Day 11: Statues on a salt lake

Lake Ballard feels like being on another planet – it is a gigantic, dried up salt lake dotted sparsely with 51 statues by Sir Antony Gormley. And it is in the middle of nowhere.

We drove 55km down a bumpy unsealed and unmarked road from the already remote Western Australian town of Menzies before we realised we were definitely in the right spot. Was absolutely worth the journey. Bring hats, water, sunscreen and some good shoes. – Mum

Once upon a time there was a swimming pool and then the swimming pool turned into a big salt lake. – Marshall
