The world sometimes feels so small and connected that we forget how big it actually is. That once upon a time, a long-distance romance consisted of hand-written letters at intervals of three months. That even though people may get up each morning and put our trousers on in the same way, we aren’t all necessarily cut from the same cloth.
On 11 March 2014 Mum (32), Dad (33) and Marshall (3) left home in Sydney to travel to London overland: by boat, train, bus and car.
We travelled through 20 countries, visited 23 UNESCO World Heritage Sites and tried our best to say “hello” and “thank you” in 13 languages.
The map below outlines our journey. Zoom in and have a play. Click the pins to read a bit about the spot and connect to posts on the blog. The lines show the method of transport and km between each point.
Wow! What a great adventure Marshall! I look forward to the exciting updates and more amazing photos!
How thrilling for you! How long will your journey take? (As long as it takes…?) Oblast to Moscow…how? TransSiberian RR? Can’t wait for the posts.
Hey hey! About 5 months. Yes – we will drive across Australia, cruise from Perth to Singapore, then trains and buses to Hong Kong (with lots of stops and excitement along the way, of course) then train to Xian, then Beijing, then to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia then on the Transsiberian to Moscow, on to St. Petersburg and then through Europe back to London. Phew! Will be posting lots here xoxox

[…] Last year my husband, son, Super Sloth and I took the ultimate slow journey: we travelled from Sydney, Australia to London, England by road and by sea, using only trains, cars, buses and ships! It took us just over five months and was an amazing way to really put the power of SLOW to practice (read more about our journey HERE). […]
